Professor Giulio Fanti, from the University of Padua, has spent decades investigating the mystery of the Shroud of Turin—the linen cloth believed to have wrapped Jesus Christ after His crucifixion.
In this powerful presentation, he explains the Corona Discharge Hypothesis, a scientific theory that may reveal how the body image was formed.

According to Fanti, the Shroud’s image could result from an intense electric field interacting with organic materials on the cloth, creating what he calls “divine photography.” This discharge would have released electrons and radiation, marking the linen fibers with a faint yet enduring image of Christ’s body—complete with 3D details.

He links this phenomenon to the mysterious Holy Fire of Jerusalem, suggesting it may be a modern echo of the same type of event that occurred during the Resurrection. His experiments at Padua University replicated some of these effects using corona discharges, supporting his theory’s plausibility.

Fanti concludes that science alone cannot explain the Shroud fully—but it can point to a miraculous event consistent with the Resurrection.
