What is the Book About?
His new book Return of the Lord focuses on a narrative reflecting on the Apostles final moments. The synopsis on the book reads: Jesus’ apostles were not particularly remarkable men at first glance: fishermen, carpenters, even tax collectors! And yet he said, “It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain” (John 15:16). Little is known for certain about what happened to each of them following the Resurrection, yet ancient traditions abound. What were their final moments like in this life? How did each apostle summon such astounding courage to face trial, tribulation, and martyrdom? What might it have been like when the Lord returned for them as he had promised? Mike Creavey reimagines these final moments in an intimately personal way, inviting the reader into an experience of the profound love that God plants in the hearts of his closest friends. My Review
Michael does a great job of combining tradition with available history to build a narrative around the last days of each of the Apostles and Mary. His stories show the suffering they endured for Jesus as their ministries come to an end. Most importantly they show how Jesus is there to welcome them each personally into heaven. Through their faith they are able to see how much Jesus loves them and all of us. That no matter what the bodily experience is there is a far greater reward waiting for us in heaven.
