In a riveting presentation at The Shroud of Turin 2025 International Conference & Symposium, environmental and energy scientist Bill Lauto presented a compelling intersection between science and faith. His talk, “Coinciding Historical, Environmental, Geological, and Celestial Data with Gospel Writings,” offered fresh insights into how nature’s records validate Scripture.
Using data from astronomy, geology, and climate science, Lauto analyzed sediment cores from the Dead Sea, revealing earthquake evidence precisely dated to 33 AD, matching the Gospel account of the Crucifixion. He also explored astronomical data confirming a blood-red lunar eclipse visible from Jerusalem that same evening. These findings, combined with studies on ancient climate and temperature records, suggest that April 3, 33 AD, aligns perfectly with the biblical narrative of Jesus Christ’s death and Resurrection.
Bill’s research shows that even the environment bears witness to the divine. Dust layers containing pollen from springtime plants parallel the pollen found on the Shroud of Turin, further connecting science with sacred history.
Through these converging lines of evidence, Lauto’s work builds a bridge between faith and reason, offering powerful testimony to the truth of the Resurrection and the enduring mystery of the Shroud of Turin.
