Hey everyone, I am so excited about my new book project, which I am introducing today.
I am writing a historical fiction on the Shroud of Turin. Most Shroud books are about proving its authenticity as the actual burial cloth of Jesus Christ. My book, The Jesus Resurrection Shroud: A History of the Shroud of Turin, assumes the cloth to be the authentic burial shroud of Jesus Christ and builds a multi-faceted story about its history and travels from that fateful day on Golgotha in Jerusalem all the way to Turin, Italy, and how major historical events shaped that path. However, to stay true to the posts title, what is all that you will need to know about my new book? First you will need to know about some of the historical factors that create the world of the Jesus Resurrection Shroud, as it is a historical fiction book it incorporates the real locations and people with some not so real characters to enrich this beloved historical mystery.
What Are A Few Historical Points That You Will Need To Know?
Let’s first start with a few questions that will help us delve into this.
Did fear of the Romans and the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem cause it be moved from
Jerusalem to Edessa?
Did the Sassanids quest for expansion against the Roman Empire cause it to be
moved from Edessa to Constantinople?
Did the Fourth Crusade cause it to be secreted from Constantinople to Athens, then
Rigney France, then Lirey France?
Did an argument over its ownership cause it to be purchased by the Savoy royal
family?

What Else Is There To Know?
That is a good question, what else is there to know? Well, to gain a better understanding of the book let’s end with a summary of the book. My book provides a credible sequence of events digging into the lives of people in those
eras and how each of these momentous geo-political events may have influenced the
whereabouts of this most valuable witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Whichever side of the Shroud controversy you’re on, you’ll love this story of a possible –
yet plausible – history of Jesus’ Resurrection Shroud. If you’re a Christian or a Jew, you know
there was a burial cloth. If you’re a Christian, you know there was a resurrection. But what
happened to the burial cloth? Was there a cloth that witnessed the moment of resurrection? If it
was a witness, was it simply thrown away, or was it revered as the most important relic in human
existence. Guy R. Powell, in his book, The Jesus Resurrection Shroud: An History of the Shroud
of Turin, has taken know historical events and developed hypotheses to write a compelling
history of how the burial cloth of Jesus Christ travels from Golgotha in Jerusalem, through the
Roman Empire, through Byzantium, through Europe and how it lands in Turin, Italy. This burial
cloth has survived fires, wars, plagues, and floods to become the most valuable Christian relic.
Or is it the most worthless fake? What do you believe?
